The Wildlife Research Center of Kyoto University has been promoting basic research and conservation research mainly on wild animals and those kept captive in zoos and aquariums. We also engage in educational activities to promote deep understanding of wildlife and the natural environment. Our Joint Usage/Research supports relevant research projects outside WRC in an effort to promote such basic research and educational activities more broadly, and to contribute to the development of wildlife conservation research nationwide.

Outline of the Wildlife Research Center (WRC)
As the only center for wildlife conservation research in Japan, we have been promoting the shared use of our domestic and international research bases, technologies, information, materials, and samples that have been collected over the years.
Through joint research with researchers and graduate students from other universities and research institutions, staff at zoos and aquariums, and many others involved in wildlife conservation, we establish a new academic field of study by mutual collaboration, develop the field of wildlife conservation, and gain deeper knowledge about the nature.
