The Wildlife Research Center is pleased to announce an open call for Joint Usage/Research proposals for FY2026. We welcome applications from researchers and graduate students affiliated with a university or research institution, as well as zoo and aquarium staff and others involved in wildlife conservation.

Category A1 (research with financial support)
Category A2 (support for conference presentation)
Category B use of facilities, equipment and materials without financial support)
Category C (Use of facilities for education and public outreach)

Application for provisioning to Koshima monkeys
Feeding Japanese monkeys at Koshima field station is strictly controlled. If you wish to conduct research that involves providing any food to monkeys, please consult with us and obtain the permission in advance, using the format provided at the link. (Depending on the content, we may or may not approve your request.)

Application Submission

For the first application of each fiscal year, please prepare your application and submit it using the form below. Applications must be uploaded on the form. Advance permission is required to use our facilities, even for research projects that have been adopted. Particularly, Koshima, Yakushima, and Kumamoto Sanctuary may not be available due to capacity limits.

If you have a large number of users, you may upload the information by entering the users in the designated file and then uploading the file using the form above. If you have a small number of users, it would be helpful if you could input the information directly into the form above.

This call for proposals is being conducted as part of the Joint Usage/Research Center for "Conservation of Endangered Wild Animals (large mammals, etc.)". Please note that Joint Usage/Research is required in accordance with the "objectives, outline, and role of the center". In addition, please be sure to read the Guidelines for Research on Wild Animals and Guidelines for Ethics in Animal Research provided by the Wildlife Research Center before submitting your application. Research projects that do not comply with these requirements will not be adopted.
