アザラシやオットセイ、イルカ、クジラといった海棲哺乳類は、海洋生態系における高次捕食者です。彼らが暮らす海は、彼ら自身の生態や海の生態系、環境、そして人間の活動が複雑に関わり合って成り立っています。しかし、近年の環境変動によって、その関係性は大きく変化しつつあります。こうした関係性を可視化することを通して、海棲哺乳類や人間を含めた海洋生態系の未来について考えています。現在は、グリーンランドの氷河フィヨルドに棲息するアザラシを主な対象に研究を行っています。
