動物園の動物たちは何を考えて生きているのだろうか。
動物園で飼育されている動物たちは、ほとんどが野生動物です。
野生とはあきらかにことなる環境が、行動にどのような影響を与えるのだろうか。人工的な環境の下でも、彼らが「本来の行動」を見せてくれるようにするには、どうすればよいか。
そんな視点から、最近では以下のような研究をおこなっています。

1)チンパンジーの集団学習場面でみられる社会的知性の研究
2)マンドリルとテナガザルを対象とした比較認知科学的研究
3)ヤブイヌの周産期行動の観察
