伊谷 原一 (センター長・教授)

	1984年、沖縄の伝統的漁撈を対象にした生態人類学的研究を開始。その一方で、中央アフリカのザイール共和国（現コンゴ民主共和国）で野生ボノボを、隣国のコンゴ共和国やタンザニア共和国で野生チンパンジーを対象に生態・行動・社会学的研究に従事。同時に、アフリカ大型類人猿やアフリカ熱帯多雨林・乾燥疎開林の保全活動も行う。また、国内では近畿地方の野生ニホンザルの生態学的研究、飼育下類人猿の環境エンリッチメントや行動学的研究に携わる。
